MILFORD SOUND ~ Explore Milford Sound’s amazing natural wonders on a sightseeing day cruise. It is the best known of NZ’s fjords & the only one that can be accessed by road. Mitre Peak magnetizes photographers, and the scenery of the sheer cliffs is perfect mirrored on the water, when the weather is calm.
MT. COOK ~ The tallest mountain in New Zealand, awarded “World Heritage” status in recognition of its qualities and rare beauty. There are several other high peaks of the South Island’s, like Southern Alps nearby. Stop at Lake Pukaki lookout for a closer view of Mt. Cook.
The Blue Penguin Colony ~ Our Blue Penguins nest close to town under the cliffs along the Historic Harbour foreshore. The Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony is just beyond the Victorian Heritage Precinct and you are within walking distance of the town centre, close to shops, restaurants and accommodation. During the day penguins are not walking around on land, they are either out at sea fishing or hiding away in their nesting burrows.
Lake Wakatipu ~ is an inland lake in the South Island of New Zealand. It is in the southwest corner of the Otago Region, near its boundary with Southland. Lake Wakatipu comes from the original Māori word Whakatipu wai-māori.
DAY 1: KUALA LUMPUR – CHRISTCHURCH – NEW ZEALAND (Meals on board)
Today we take a flight to Christchurch ~ New Zealand.
DAY 2: CHRISTCHURCH – GREYMOUTH (- /-/D)
Upon arrive Christchurch, meet with representative and we will travel to west coast by today, crossing the Southern Alps to Christchurch. High viaducts, spectacular views and ever changing scenery.
DAY 3: GREYMOUTH – HOKITIKA – FOX GLACIER – HASST (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we start our journey today. The west coast holds a special place in the nation’s folklore. Certainly no other area in New Zealand is stamped with such individually. You will be intrigued by the amazing Pancake Rock formations and blowholes at Punakaiki, where we en route to Hokitika with a visit to the pioneering Village of Ross, and a New Zealand Greenstone factory. Continue down the coast to the glaciers of the Fox Glacier, you can close to the stunning Glacier. Then, we travel via Haast, stopping at the South Westland World Heritage Park and visitor’s center for an introduction to the history and natural wonders.
DAY 4: HASST – WANAKA – QUEENSTOWN (B/L/D)
Today we will travel to Mount Aspiring overlooking the glacier turquoise and emerald waters of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea. Continue drive to Queenstown. According to legend, a demon lives beneath the sparkling waters of Lake Wakatipu, its breathing causing the tides. You will enjoy the fabulous resort on the edge if Lake Wakatipu. After that, enjoy TSS Earslaw Cruise around Lake Tekapo. Then we will depart to the first farm in New Zealand and have dinner in the farm.
DAY 5: QUEENSTOWN – MILFORD SOUND – TE ANAU (B/L/D)
Today after breakfast, we start by heading through beech forests and alpine valleys to the Homer Tunnel and down into Milford Sound. We board our launch for a Cruise on the Sound, with breathtaking views of Mitre Peak, Bowen and Starling Falls cascading into the sound. Continue we go ahead to Te Anau, an ideal base for exploring the Fiordland region. An optional tour to the Te Anau Glowworm Caves is available in evening.
DAY 6: TE ANAU – DUNEDIN – OAMARU (B/L/D)
After breakfast, we travel to Dunedin via the verdant farmlands of Southland and Otago. Our city sightseeing tours includes a visit to Otago University, the steepest Baldwin Street, Old Railway Station and admire the Scottish Stylish Architecture. Continue drive on to Oamaru to see The Blue Penguin Colony, the smallest penguin in the world.
DAY 7: OAMARU – LAKE TEKAPO – MT. COOK – CHRISTCHURCH – KUALA LUMPUR (B/-/-)
Today we pass the milky blue waters of Lake Pukaki to Mt Cook National Park & Village, amidst New Zealand’s highest mountains. Continue; Descend Burkes Pass to the Canterbury Plains and Christchurch. Then transfer to Airport for returning flight.
